Franklin Electric Co. Inc. is the world’s largest manufacturer
of submersible electric motors and a leading producer of electronic control
systems. These products are used by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)
around the world in a wide variety of residential, industrial, mining and
municipal applications.
The principal application for Franklin Electric’s submersible electric
motors and controls is for the pumping of underground water. In addition
to this application, the company also manufactures and offers an extensive
range of submersible pumps and motors for installation in the underground
tanks of the retail fuel market.
Franklin Electric SA (Pty) Ltd is a subsidiary of Franklin Electric Co.
Inc, a global company based in Bluffton, Indiana USA. The latter company
is listed on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange and has approximately 2700 employees
worldwide. Manufacturing and distribution facilities are situated in the
USA, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, Mexico, Australia, South Africa, China
and Japan.
Franklin Electric SA (Pty) Ltd was established in 1972. Since then, an
estimated 900 000 submersible electric motors have been installed in very
basic domestic applications to mine dewatering installations 2700m below
ground level. While the core product is submersible motors, the expertise
levels of all our technical staff extends through to the pump, the pipe
reticulation system and the electrical controls. Upliftment of the communities
in which the company operates is an important part of our corporate mission.
To this end, Franklin South Africa has provided employment opportunities
for South Africans for 35 years. In addition, locally designed and manufactured
products have also been added to the market offering.

South Africa’s largest pump OEMs:

The Fueling division was established in 1994 in order to serve the needs
of South Africa’s rapidly expanding Petro-chemical industry. Since
then many local and international products have been made available while
training programs have been offered in an effort to alleviate the critical
skills shortage which is so prevalent in the region.
